Knitting is for everyone
Whether you’re a champion knitter or new to the arts and crafts game, crafting is a veritable treasure chest of good vibes for honing your wellness, occupying your mind and soothing your soul.
Research has shown that repetitive textile based tasks such knitting, sewing, and weaving create meditative patterns in the brain, encouraging relaxation and stress relief through physical creativity.
As well as the physical benefits, such as development and maintenance of hand-eye co-ordination, and fine motor skills, knitting and other crafting reaps all kind of mental rewards, such as facilitating memory retrieval, and allowing you to feel a sense of pride in your achievement.
Becoming absorbed in and concentrating on the task is enough, as it takes you away from external anxieties, but if you’re not into the idea of crafting alone, there are hundreds of “knit-in” groups you can join – just search the internet to find one in your area, and get ready to show off your newly acquired needle skills!
